Majestic Cathedral

This is the famous view of the Cologne Cathedral over the Rhine with the Hohenzollern Railway-bridge leading into Colognes central station. Again a shot many others have taken also... but I could not resist as well.

Bridge over untroubled waters

When evening fell over the old port streets of Dinan I was able to get this shot. For me it speaks of the quiet and calm I have experienced that night.

The Long Walk

It was a phantastic day in Galway town when I came to The Long Walk and saw the sunset and all the people there... quite a remarkable thing to witness.

Göteborgs Operan

The shipshaped opera of Gothenburg in Sweden. It is known in the swedish tongue as "Göteborgs Operan"

Light Streak

Adding one more of the by now already innumerable shots of the roman colloseum. But I was impressed by its looks and the way the modern times so closely run by the ancient buildings here.

Bridge in the dusk

At night this bridge was almost covered in fog. The lights of the structure and the cars made a great shine around it.

area sanctae ecclesiae

St Peters square was closed to the public... but that enabled me to do this shot without people always walking through the shot.

Irish Harp II

The harp shaped Samuel-Beckett-Bridge near the Dublin Docklands. The design had to be ‘a landmark structure of unmistakable modernity and with a unique character that would provide a symbol at the maritime gateway of Dublin, similar to the manner in which the Ha'penny Bridge has become an icon for the city'.

гимнастика / gymnasium

Again taken in Beelitz Heilstätten. This room was used as the gymnasium for the hospital. There were also space for games and theatre.

In Dublins fair city....

The infamously famous Temple Bar in the same district of Dublin. Definatly not the "typical" Ireland, but part of every itenerary when you visit the place.

The Kitchen

Taken in the kitchen of the Castle Ronneburg east of Frankfurt.

Breaking Wave

This shot was taken at the Giants Causeway at sunset. The glow of the sun was reflecting so nicely in the breaking low waves... But judge for yourselfs.....

Busy Sunset

The Giants Causeway is not only during daytime a busy place but also at sunset. You will find many sights to see... and sometimes the other photographers are just a nice view.

Sunset Time

Taken at the Giants Causeway at sunset time. For me it was a phantastic thing to witness. The evening was perfect and the photos rather good I think.

looking at the setting sun

On the Red Sea coast the sunset was magnificent. And so I do know that this picture is a bit to "postcardy" I had to take it.... are we not all guilty of that?

Desert Sunset

Simply a great sunset over the jordan desert...

Dead Sea Sunset

About from the place where Moses had the look into the promised land. If true or not is not why I took the shot - but I do think that it was just impressive!

Sheep at Sunsettime

Up in northern Donegal I found some beautiful sunsets. And combined with those sheep that were left there grasing it makes for a rather good shot I think...

Fanad Head

Not much more to say - it is Fanad Head and the lighthouse there. As part of the Wild Atlantic Way it is a great place to visit both during the daylight hours and at sunset and at night.

...and there was that piano

It was a magical moment.... it felt as if the artist had only just left his instrument. But it has probably been years already!

Street beside the river

another shot of The Long Walk in Galway City. I do love it there at the waters edge.... it was a phantastic evening and I do hope that the picture does transport at least part of it.

Christmas Town

In the lovely town of Buedingen they do a Christmas Market with what feels like a million lights. Walking through this medieval town is most impressive!

Don´t forget to call me....

Over in the "wee north" things are still very british... like the phone booth´s. It just looked perfect in the falling darkness.

uphill

The main road from Dingle over O'Connor-Pass. It was impressive that evening with the sun already relatively low in the sky and the warm light flooding over the mountains.

An Blascaod Mór

An Blascaod Mór (or Great Blasket Island in english) is situated off the west tip of the Dingle Peninsula. The village that once was there has been abandoned a few years back and is now just ruins.

I´m off

She took flight when I was almost ready to take the picture. But I felt reminded of a Book here in Germany "Ich bin dann mal weg".... and hence the title for this picture

Rio del Frari

I have been experimenting a bit with long shutter speeds here. In the end I think this 13 second exposure (done with a high ND-Filter) makes a good look and impression of things. I like the reflection of the buildings in the apperently smooth water. Judge for yourself.

it is all so red

Burano in the venetian laguna.

a glowing sunrise II

It was early in the morning and the sun still low in the sky when I gotten to the meadow. The sun was just up over the woods behind the clearing when it backlit the grass there....

The Dark Hedges

The street - the Dark Hedges - is a very special little street. It has a featured in the popular TV-Series "Game of Thrones". But I do believe that it was interesting long before that...

Achill Island Road

On the towards Achill Island the nearing sunset gave a fine view of this magnificent landscape.

fog in the valley

Again taken on the Hochrhönstrasse in northern Bavaria. Shortly after sunset those banks of fog developed and it all of a sudden gave a very special feeling to the whole landscape

morning fog

Almost in the middle of town I got this picture. The fog hung thick and it was interesting to see what shots to get.

Puffin

Out in one of the eastern bays of Iceland I found that lovely rock... and it had a colony of puffins.... CUTE !

guideline

Wünsdorf was during the Cold War the Headquarters of Soviet Forces in East Germany and the biggest camp outside the USSR. To the locals it was known as the "Forbidden City". And they had their luxuries there....

Harsh Ocean going soft

With the long exposure the harsh Atlantic Ocean gone rather soft. It is now all soft and smooth and flowy.

A giants bridge

The causeway is a UNESCO Heritage Site. It was great to see in the warm evening site... and sitting there having a snack was great to enjoy.

Petra Treasure House

Petra at Night - it was very impressive to see the walkway and the treasure house slighted by candles.

10.000 candles....

It must have been what felt like 10.000 candles lighting the path into ancient petra for this look. You walked through the siq into the city - every step lit by candlelight. It was amazing....

House of Treasure

Yes, that shot has been taken more then a million times already. But it is part of probably every trip to Jordan you take. So it is part of this trip here too. And yet I do think I got it rather good here.... what do you think?

Qasr Al-Kharanah

Qasr Kharana is one of the best-known of the desert castles. It is believed to have been built sometime before the early 8th century AD. It is one of the earliest examples of Islamic architecture in the region. It was probably used as a caravanserai, or resting place for traders.

Qasr Kharana

Qasr Kharana is one of the best-known of the desert castles. It is believed to have been built sometime before the early 8th century AD. It is one of the earliest examples of Islamic architecture in the region. It was probably used as a caravanserai, or resting place for traders.

overlooking the cloister

View from the restored Gatehouse of Boyle Abbey in Ireland over the inner cloister and yard.

Grand old Car

As part of the corporate show Mercedes build a rather impressive museum in Stuttgart and added cars from all their company history - the 1890ies till the present. A place to bring a shine to the eyes of the enthusiasts.

going northward

SAS morning flight from Frankfurt (FRA) to Stockholm. What a great chance to get those shots done !

like a horn of plenty

Fitting for the time of the year I chose a setup of the autumn harvest.

The Bedouin

He was selling gifts on the side of the road. But when you looked into his face you saw a proud and strong man.

him been playing all time long....

That old man sat there and played all the time for the people that mostly just walked past.

The smith

Bunratty Folk Park comes to life with the people who occupy the different spaces and houses. He is the resident smith - a very decent and nice fellow. And he had that authentic old style feel of it for me.

over empty streets

The walkway beside the harbour and Gothenburgs Operahouse looked very special late at night... with no people and when you looked along it at a very low angle.....

Imprisonment

The prison behind the the local courthouse in Berlin-Köpenick was the site of the infamous "Blutwoche" of Hitlers SA. Later the Stasi of the East German government used the place to keep the people that wanted to leave the GDR.

... at the end of the stairs

And then there was that glorious sun shining in through the windows (but to be honest, its been a bit enhanced here).

Fields of Gold

The Irish have a phantastic song about the "Fields of Gold" - fields covered in barley and getting ripe. This picture was not taken in Ireland so. But it is all handmade... old Hasselblad and analogue film.

The castle kitchen

They did revive the kitchen in the castle Ronneburg and cooked as they did in the middle ages. I got some interesting impressions there...

glowing steel

They had this demonstration of how to make damascene steel there. It was amazing to see the sparks flying when they pounded on the glowing steel.
